A lovely wild rose is our very first Poetry Potluck guest: Elaine Magliaro!
She sent me several poems and said I could take my pick. Though I liked them all, there was one I found so adorable I couldn’t resist sharing it with you. It’s perfect for this time of year, and perfect as a “first poem” for the Potluck.

Happy April and Welcome to the Alphabet Soup Poetry Potluck!
I’ve set the table, chilled the wine, hired a string quartet (don’t worry, some jazz musicians will be joining us later), and am ready to enjoy a month’s worth of poems written by some of the wonderful folks I’ve met through Poetry Friday.
I’ve been hooked on PF ever since I first started blogging in 2007. Every week, I look forward to seeing what beautiful, inspiring, funny, or thought provoking poems these friends will post. Whether they’ve written the poems themselves, or have chosen the work of others, I’m grateful for the momentary glimpse into their emotional lives.
I thought inviting them to the alphabet soup kitchen for a potluck would be the perfect way to celebrate National Poetry Month. I asked each to share an original poem and a favorite recipe, and they all, without hesitation, enthusiastically agreed (further evidence of their overall awesomeness). They came through for me in a big way, even sharing recipe photos. Friends, this is going to be a supremely delicious month — a bountiful, nourishing feast for body, mind, and spirit!
So many cupcakes, so little time!
Where did March go? Time sure flies when you’re busy licking frosting.
Since I still haven’t found the "perfect chocolate cupcake," I’ll just have to keep looking (twist my arm). Serious bakery research is tough work, but as I said before, I’m willing to make the sacrifice for you, dear readers. So stay tuned for a few more cupcake capers this Spring, as well as more "Cuppie-o-Grams," which will continue to pop up ever-so-randomly here at alphabet soup.

Each weekday, I will post an exceedingly tasty poem and favorite recipe from one of the many uncommonly good-looking, highly talented poets who regularly participate in Poetry Friday. Just wait till you see what they’ve cooked up! Get your literary bibs on, cause we’ll be serving some seriously amazing food for body, mind and spirit!
